About our speaker:
Baiba Šmite – Roķe started her duties on February 13, 2024. Before the approval, B. Šmite-Roķe, addressing the government, indicated that changing the work culture would be her primary challenge. She also promised to implement changes in three directions: digital transformation of SRS, restructuring of SRS, and clarification of services.
B. Šmite – Roķe is a long-time employee of the SRS. As the head of the SRS department, she has been completing the annual declarations of state officials since 2000. In 2007, she started working at the Department of Excise Goods. In 2015, she became the head of the Excise Goods Circulation Department. In 2020, Šmite-Roķe was appointed Deputy Director of the Tax Administration, and in May 2023, Acting Director of the Tax Administration.
