Foreign Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL) will hold its 23rd High Council Meeting with the Government of Latvia on the 30th and 31st of May.
The High Council will start on the 30th of May with an internal meeting among FICIL members. The afternoon will be dedicated to a public panel discussion which will be followed by a reception in the evening.

13:30-15:00 Panel I: “Staffing A Smart Nation”
Digitalisation and innovation, as well as modern and well-educated workforce are two preconditions for creating a smart nation. One of the most acute problems currently is the lack of workforce. What needs to be done to address this challenge? What are the concrete steps the Government and employers can take deal with this challenge and increase Latvia’s economic competitiveness?

15:30-17:00 Panel II: “Laying the Tracks Ahead for Latvia”
We are currently at the dawn of one of the largest infrastructure projects the Baltics have seen. Rail Baltica will not only improve Latvia’s railroad connectivity with Europe, but also play an important role in further investment attraction to the region. Where does Latvia stand at the moment in regards to the Rail Baltica project and what still needs to be addressed? Is Latvia ready for the investment opportunities that it opens up?
On the 31st of May (first half of the day) meeting with the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers will take place.
