Concert with Moya Brennan – First Lady of Celtic Music, Aisling Jarvis and Cormac de Barra

The first Lady of Celtic music – Moya Brennan and harp virtuoso Cormac de Barra toured Latvia from 2 – 4 March 2016 performing in the “Jūras vārti” Concert hall in Venstpils, Berģi Culture House and the Valka Culture House. During the 3 March concert in Berģi, the Ambassador of Ireland – Seamus Mac Aonghusa was the guest of the Honourable Mayor Mr. Martins Gunars Bauze-Krastins.

Moya Brennan and Cormac De Barra both come from large musical families in Ireland. Grammy award winner, Moya Brennan was the lead singer of Clannad. She is now pursuing a successful solo career. Moya Brennan has sung on most of the world’s greatest stages and has collaborated with many notable artists including The Chieftains, Paul Brady and Bono of U2.

The artists played the traditional instrument of Ireland – the harp, also adding wonderful vocal harmonies. The sound of the harps and the performance in the artists’ native Gaelic language, created a dream like environment for their Latvian audience carrying them away on the wings of Irish culture and tradition.

The audience were also delighted to hear Aisling Jarvis (www.aislingjarvis.com) perform “Fragile” from her new CD “a handful of bad ideas”, which is getting tremendous reaction.

The concerts were successfully promoted by Mr. Ojārs Grasmanis of Live Fest.
